What We Do

Laminate Installation, Start to Finish

We don't sell flooring — we install it. That means unbiased advice and pricing that isn't padded with material markups.

1

Old Floor Removal

Carpet, vinyl, or worn-out laminate — we tear it out and haul it away so you don't have to, starting around $0.50/sq ft (old tile removal starts at $2.75/sq ft). Priced separately from installation.

2

Subfloor Preparation

Uneven or damaged subfloors are the #1 cause of failed laminate jobs. We level and prep before a single plank goes down.

3

Precision Installation

Tight seams, proper expansion gaps, and staggered joints for a floor that looks great and holds up over time.

4

Trim & Transitions

Baseboards, quarter round, and transition strips finished cleanly at every doorway and room edge. Priced separately from installation — see Removal & Prep Costs for shoe molding rates.

5

Stairs & Landings

Laminate and vinyl plank installed on stair treads and risers with proper nosing for a seamless look.

6

Bring Your Own Material

Already bought your laminate? We're happy to install material you've sourced yourself — no pressure to buy through us.

Common Questions

Laminate Installation FAQ

Do I need to buy the laminate myself?

Yes — we're installation-only, so you're free to purchase laminate from any Austin retailer or supplier. This keeps our pricing honest since we don't mark up material costs.

What's included in the labor price?

The $2.50–$3.00/sq ft rate covers installation of your laminate only. Removing your old flooring, subfloor leveling, and trim/baseboard work are all quoted as separate line items. See Removal & Prep Costs above for typical rates.

Do you remove my old flooring before installing laminate?

Yes. We remove carpet, vinyl, tile, or worn-out laminate/LVP as a separate line item — see Removal & Prep Costs above for typical rates. We haul away and dispose of the old material so you don't have to.

Can laminate be installed over tile or concrete?

Laminate is a floating floor, so it can go over concrete slab or existing tile as long as the surface is flat, clean, and dry. If the tile grout lines are too deep or the slab has high spots, we'll recommend removal or self-leveling first for the best long-term result.

Do I need to level my subfloor first?

Uneven subfloors are the number one cause of laminate joints popping or separating. During your free estimate we check the subfloor with a level and let you know upfront whether self-leveling compound is needed before installation — it's priced at roughly $48/bag and quoted based on how many bags your space requires. As a general rule of thumb, we estimate one 25 lb bag of floor patch per every 50 sq ft, though that can easily double if your slab or subfloor is in rougher shape.

How long does a typical job take?

Most residential laminate installations wrap up in 1-3 days depending on square footage and whether removal or subfloor prep is needed.

Can you install laminate on stairs?

Yes, including risers, treads, and proper stair-nose trim for a clean, safe finish.

Do you charge for small projects?

Projects under 500 sq ft carry a flat minimum charge instead of a per-foot rate, since setup and travel time don't scale down with room size.

Is there a warranty on the installation?

Yes — we offer a 2-year warranty on all our installation services and will return to correct any workmanship issue during that time. Material defects are covered separately by the manufacturer's warranty on the product you purchased.
